- Book Synopsis
- Set in a small restaurant in the Pittsburgh Hill District in 1969, Two Trains Running is part of August Wilson's Century Cycle, his epic dramatisation of the African American experience in the twentieth century. This edition includes a foreword by Laurence Fishburne, who played the part of Sterling in the original 1990 production and on Broadway. 'Wilson's struggle was to reveal the richness of black life as being both uniquely African and, at the same time, authentically American. The flawless integration of these ostensibly disparate qualities is the essence of his genius' Laurence Fishburne, from his Foreword August Wilson's play Two Trains Running was first staged at Yale Repertory Theatre in 1990.
