Rebecca F. Kuang is a Chinese-American author known for fantasy trilogy The Poppy War. Her family emigrated to America when she was 4 years old, and she grew up in Dallas, Texas. She excelled in debating at school, winning the national Tournament of Champions Lincoln Douglas Debate in 2013. She began writing The Poppy War during a gap year in China and it was published to widespread acclaim in 2018, when she was just 22. Rebecca has an MPhil in Chinese Studies from Cambridge and an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies from Oxford; she is now pursuing a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale.
