Dark romance

Dark Romanticism is a literary sub-genre of the Romance genre that reflects an admiration for the irrational, the demonic and the grotesque. Edgar Allan Poe is often regarded as a leading exponent of this tradition. Dark Romanticism focuses on human depravity, self-destruction and punishment, as well as the psychological aspects of guilt and sin.
