Historical Adventure

A historical adventure is an exciting narrative set some time in the past. As with contemporary adventure fiction, the main character encounters danger in the course of an ‘adventure’ which takes place outside the scope of normal everyday life. Popular examples include the Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell, which is set during the Napoleonic Wars, or the New Kingdom series by Wilbur Smith which is set in ancient Egypt.
