- About The Author
- Dennis R. Howard is a Philip H. Knight Professor of Business at the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business. He served as Dean of the College from 2008 to 2010. Prior to becoming Dean, he served as Head of the Marketing Department and taught sports business classes at the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center. Dr. Howard has authored or co-authored three books and close to 100 articles on sport and leisure industry topics. His book with John Crompton, Financing Sport, is the first comprehensive textbook on the many traditional and innovative revenue acquisition methods available to sports organizations. He has served as a consultant to the NFL, several major league teams, and a number of intercollegiate athletic departments on facility development projects. Dr. Howard is the founding editor of the International Journal of Sport Finance and has served on the editorial boards of the Sport Marketing Quarterly and the Journal of Sport Management. Since joining the University of Oregon business faculty in 1997, Dr. Howard has received the Undergraduate Teaching Award, the Harry R. Jacobs Distinguished Teaching Award, and the James E. Reinmuth MBA Teaching Excellence Award. In 1998, he received the highest honor awarded by the North American Society for Sport Managementthe Earle F.
