- Entrepreneurship is the quality of being an entrepreneur, i.e. one who undertakes an enterprise. The term puts emphasis on the risk and effort taken by individuals who both own and manage a business, and on the innovations resulting from their pursuit of economic success. National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015 aims to bring the world of education and training closer to the world of work so as to enable them together build a strong India. It provides clarity and coherence on how skill development efforts across the country can be aligned within the existing institutional arrangements. The policy links skill development to improved employability and productivity. Make in India is an initiative of the Government of India to encourage multinational, as well as domestic companies to manufacture their products in India. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25, 2014. The objective is to make India as the top destination globally for foreign direct investment (FDI). Presently, India is one of the youngest nations in the world with more than 62 percent of its population in the working age group (15-59 years), and more than 54 percent of its total population below 25 years of age. The problem of the educated unemployed raises special issues. It has to be tackled through proper educational planning and schemes of training, skill formation and entrepreneurial development. This book provides a comprehensive account of policies and programmes for entrepreneurship development in India. More importantly, it details various programmes and schemesincluding the flagship Make in India Campaignof the Government of India to create jobs for the young population of India.
- About The Author
- Dr. P. Madhavi is currently Assistant Professor of Economics, in the Department of Womens Studies, Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati. Earlier she worked as lecturer in JNTU College of Engineering, Anantapur. She obtained her M.A. Degree in Economics from Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh and was awarded the Gold Medal. She also received her M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees from the same university. She has also published and presented 17 articles in journals and conferences. Her areas of interest include women empowerment, women entrepreneurship, and industrial economics. Professor G. Satyanarayana is presently Emeritus Fellow of University Grants Commission (UGC) at Sri Krishnadevaraya University (S.K. University), Anantapuramu, Andhra Pradesh. He retired as Dean of Social Sciences and Director, Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy from the same University. A Gold Medallist in M.A. (Economics), he has more than 100 research papers and 11 books to his credit. He successfully completed one major research project sponsored by the UGC, New Delhi. Earlier he worked as Director, College Development Council, S.K. University, Anantapuramu and also as a Senior Research Officer at the Centre for Planning and Development Studies, a Premier State-sponsored Research Centre in the University.
