- Book Synopsis
- Identify which image does not have the same beginning or ending sound that is shared by the other images in this beautiful wordless book. A Phase 1/Lilac book for children learning to read. This wordless book links to Aspect 7 of Letters and Sounds Phase 1 - Oral blending and segmenting. In particular it supports the following strands: Tuning into sounds (auditory discrimination) Listening and remembering sounds (auditory memory and sequencing) Talking about sounds (developing vocabulary and language comprehension) This book is designed for the first stage of teaching children to read, before they begin learning their letters. It is ideal for use at Phase 1 of a phonics programme. All of Ransom's Phase 1/Lilac Band books are designed to help children develop their speaking and listening skills and improve their vocabulary through creating and telling stories, exploring topics and stimulating discussion.
- About The Author
- Stephen Rickard is a writer and publisher, and has written and developed many award-winning books and software titles. He specialises in books that develop reading skills and promote an enthusiasm for reading for all ages but with a strong concern for reluctant and struggling readers. Using his detailed knowledge of both the phonics programme Letters and Sounds and the UK Bookband system, Stephen has developed Ransom's reading programme, working with the late Shirley Bickler. As well as his role as series editor he has written a number of the books within the programme.
