Barack Obama, inaugurated in January 2009, followed with Bill Clinton's choice of pen, the Cross Townsend II. However, later into his time in office, he switched his choice of Cross pen to the Cross Century II. The Cross Century II made history by being the first cross pen used to sign bills by both political parties in The White House.

Current U.S. president, Joe Biden, who has family roots in County Louth, used the Cross Century II rollerball pen in black lacquer with gold appointments to sign 17 executive orders on his first day in the Oval Office. Biden's stylish special edition Cross pen has a gold engaving of his signature along with the presidential seal on the cap.
