And just like that, it all comes to an end.
With our three finalists ready to join us on stage at the Helix, the Eason Spelling Bee All-Ireland Final is about to begin.
All three finalists brought their class with them as supporters. Teachers and parents also joined them. The venue was packed and the atmosphere was tense, but excited. Everyone was in for a great day!
The spellers, Ollie, Benas, and Annie took to the stage after a short victory lap set to music to really enjoy their accomplishment of making it this far. Then, they took their seats as the final began.
It has been said many times at the various finals, and in each of these blogs, but to say we were impressed by the level of skill on display would be an understatement. Each of the finalists truly earned their place, and put on a phenomenal show. No mistakes were made for the longest time. We were worried we were going to run out of words!

But, sadly, soon one competitor made a mistake.
Then, we went into a head-to-head round, with Benas and Annie both doing a their schools, counties and themselves proud. After three tense head-to-heads, finally a winner emerged.
Annie John, from Scoil Mhurie, Coolcoots in Wexford was named the winner. She won the coveted title of Queen Bee for the 2024 Eason Spelling Bee. She secured herself a €500 Eason voucher, and her school will receive a library worth €7,500.
Annie competed in last year’s Spelling Bee, but was knocked out before she made it to the All-Ireland Final. This win was well deserved!

The students who did not win still received a €250 voucher, to congratulate them on their accomplishment of making to the All-Ireland final, and their schools will receive a library worth €3,000.
Celebrating its eleventh year, the Eason Spelling Bee provides a fun, educational outlet for school kids, encouraging them to read more and expand their vocabulary.
Group Head of Marketing at Eason, Brendan Corbett, said; “At Eason, we can’t quite believe that we are celebrating the 11th year of the Eason Spelling Bee. It’s a tremendous achievement and a testament to the bright-sparks of the nation. We’re incredibly proud to have created something that allows children to engage in an educational activity that develops their literacy, spelling, confidence and gives them so much enjoyment.”
This year, over 500 schools nationwide competed against each other in a bid to win the sought-after prize. The Eason Spelling Bee team have travelled around the country to host County and Provincial Final Bees. The champions from these went head-to-head in the All-Ireland Final Bee, which took place recently, with Annie John crowned Queen Bee.
Thank you so much to every school who took part in the Spelling Bee, who joined us along the way at the County and Provincial Finals, and to everyone who made the Final at the Helix Special. Congratulations to the three who made it to the final. And we cannot wait to come back next year.
