Sheila O'Flanagan is an Irish author who was born in Dublin in 1958. As a child, she dreamed of being an astronaut or pro tennis player, but she began a career in financial services at the Central Bank of Ireland. While working full time, she began writing, and her first book Dreaming of a Stranger was published in 1997. She has written over 20 novels in addition to short story collections and children's books. In 2024, she was shortlisted for the Library Association of Ireland Author of the Year Award.
