- Book Synopsis
- A Crack of the Whip is the unvarnished, blissfully politically incorrect memoir of Antony Johnson. From the unhappy privations of a 1940s prep school to high jinks in the Caribbean, Antony has led a full and remarkable life. Packed with tales from National Service, the City, industry, racing, travel and high and low society, A Crack of the Whip is a romp through life and history. 'These are memoirs without rancour, enlivened by some splendid anecdotes. Read and enjoy.' Robin Oakley.
- About The Author
- Anthony Johnson was born at the end of 1936. Educated at Wellington, he was among the last few called up for National Service. He pursued an eclectic career, starting with a stint in the City, followed by 10 years in heavy industry based in Manchester, all the while moonlighting as an amateur steeplechase jockey. He was subsequently a professional racehorse trainer in Lambourn. A spell living in the Caribbean followed, where he formed his own travel business. Back in England he took this business to a higher level, visiting close to a hundred countries worldwide. Previous publications include East into the Sun and many travel related magazine articles. He lives in Dorset.
