- About The Author
- Joseph Jacobs (1854-1916) was an Australian folklorist and translator who published several collections of fairy tales including English Fairy Tales, Celtic Fairy Tales and Indian Fairy Tales. During his lifetime, he was regarded as one of the world's leading experts on English folklore. James Stephens (1880-1950) Born in Dublin, James Stephens was known by the nickname 'Tiny Tim' due to his 4' 10" stature. Stephens graduated as a solicitor's clerk but his Irish Nationalism saw him find work as a registrar in the National Gallery of Ireland. He penned many retellings of Irish folk and fairy tales and further wrote original novels based on the traditions as well as poetry.
