Marwan Barghouti’s Prison Writings Speak Of Freedom
Marwan Barghouti's prison writings and letters form a powerful portrait of justice, endurance and Palestinian hope. Readers of political nonfiction will value the immediacy, moral conviction and human voice behind a life shaped by confinement.
- Book Synopsis
-
For more than two decades, Marwan Barghouti has been held in an Israeli prison cell, much of that time in total isolation. Yet his voice has never been forgotten.
Described by the Economist as ‘the world’s most important prisoner’ and often referred to as Palestine’s Mandela, Barghouti remains the most widely supported Palestinian political leader. As a long-standing advocate of peace grounded in justice and equality, he has become an enduring symbol of unity and hope – even from behind bars.
Unbroken brings together, for the first time, a powerful and intimate portrait of Barghouti’s life and struggle for a free Palestine: private letters to his family, personal writings, correspondence with global public figures, press interviews, public statements and rare personal photographs.
This is his story, in his own words. Unsilenced, unbroken.
Ideal for readers who:
- Want political nonfiction built from letters, testimony and a life lived under confinement.
- Are interested in Palestinian politics, imprisonment and the struggle for justice.
- Like portraits that combine private life, public leadership and historical context.
- Prefer books that invite reflection on peace, resistance and moral endurance.
- About The Author
- Marwan Barghouti is a leading Palestinian political figure who has spent more than two decades in Israeli prison. Often called 'Palestine's Mandela', Barghouti retains popular support and is seen by supporters as a symbol of hope for a unified, free Palestine and peace in the region. A former community organiser, he was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council in 1996 and 2006. Arrested by Israel in 2002, he was sentenced to five life terms after a trial widely criticised for violating international law.
