Our Commitment

We are committed to ensuring that Easons.com is accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities.

We are continually working to improve the experience for everyone who uses our website and to apply recognised accessibility standards across our online services.

Conformance Status

Our goal is to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines explain how websites and digital services can be made more accessible for people with disabilities.

We have carried out an accessibility assessment of Easons.com and have identified a number of areas where further improvements are required.

We acknowledge that not all areas of our website currently meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The issues identified through our accessibility work have been documented and we are actively working to resolve them.

Using the Site

How we support accessible browsing

We want Easons.com to be easy to use for everyone.

As part of the design and ongoing development of our website, we aim to:

  • Use clear and consistent page layouts.
  • Use readable text sizes and a clear hierarchy for headings and buttons.
  • Make the website responsive and usable across desktop, mobile and tablet devices.
  • Allow customers to enlarge and zoom website content.
  • Support customers who navigate using a keyboard rather than a mouse.
  • Make our website compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • Provide clear labels and instructions for forms and interactive controls.
  • Provide text descriptions for meaningful images.
  • Use sufficient colour contrast to make text and controls easier to read.

Accessibility is considered as part of our ongoing website development and testing.

Accessibility Improvements We Have Made

We have been working to improve the accessibility of Easons.com over a number of website developments.

Some of the improvements we have already made include:

  • Increasing readability on product pages by introducing improved font sizes and a clearer hierarchy for headings and buttons.
  • Introducing alternative text support for product imagery to improve the experience for screen-reader users.
  • Improving keyboard accessibility within website navigation.
  • Improving how navigation menus respond to keyboard controls.
  • Improving text contrast within areas of the website navigation.
  • Redesigning our product pages with mobile and accessibility considerations included in the design.
  • Redesigning our basket and checkout experience to provide a more responsive and mobile-friendly journey.
  • Improving the accessibility of website carousels for keyboard and screen-reader users.
  • Improving labels for important website links, including our logo and social media links.
  • Improving the structure of our main navigation for screen-reader users.
  • Enabling customers to zoom and enlarge content more easily.
  • Improving keyboard access within the checkout journey.

We have also carried out accessibility testing across representative areas of our website to help us identify where further improvements are required.

Accessibility will continue to form part of our website development and review process.

What We Are Still Working On

We know there are areas of Easons.com that still need improvement. Our current accessibility work includes:

  • Keyboard navigation – improving how users move through menus, carousels and other interactive elements using only a keyboard.
  • Colour contrast – reviewing text, links and interactive elements to ensure they remain clear and readable in all states.
  • Images and alternative text – ensuring meaningful images, including product covers, are correctly described for screen-reader users.
  • Search and interactive controls – improving labels so that controls and their purpose are clearly communicated to assistive technologies.
  • Carousels – ensuring hidden carousel content cannot receive keyboard focus.
  • Checkout and payment – improving screen-reader labelling and readability throughout the checkout and payment journey.
  • Third-party content – working with relevant providers where accessibility issues are identified within third-party services or components.

These issues are being tracked and worked on as part of our ongoing accessibility improvement programme.

Ongoing Accessibility Work

Accessibility is an ongoing process and we will continue to test and improve Easons.com.

We are:

  • Tracking the accessibility issues identified through our testing.
  • Prioritising issues that create barriers for customers using assistive technologies.
  • Retesting improvements as they are released.
  • Reviewing accessibility as part of future website changes and developments.
  • Working with our technology partners and third-party providers where accessibility improvements are required.

We will update this statement as our accessibility work progresses.
