Emeritus Professor of Virology, University of Adelaide, and former Head of the Infectious Diseases Laboratories, Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. His research expertise lies in hepatitis viruses particularly hepatitis B; HIV and AIDS; influenza; virus diagnosis and pathogenesis; immunization and prevention of virus infections. For more than forty years he has taught medical undergraduates and graduates and doctoral students, and worked with government research funding and public health bodies.
