Bram Stoker was an Irish author best known for his contributions to the Gothic genre. In Dracula, he penned one of the most famous vampire stories of our time, and the book has become a literary icon for both horror and Gothic enthusiasts alike. Before his writing career, Stoker had dreams of the theater and becoming a prominent thespian. After marrying his wife, Florence Balcombe, the couple moved to London where Stoker worked as an actor and business manager of Irving's Lyceum Theatre. Growing his name in the arts industry, Stoker began travelling widely, and was rumored to have been inspired to begin work on Dracula after having visited Cruden Bay in Scotland. In addition to Dracula, and among many other non-fiction essays and articles, Stoker has written 12 other novels, and has published three collections of short stories.
