Book Synopsis

A comprehensive field guide to the birds of Western Africa This field guide covers the avifauna of 23 countries, from Senegal and southern Mauritania east to Chad and the Central African Republic, and south to Congo. Now in its second edition, this magnificent guide has unrivalled coverage. Concise text covers identification, vocalisations, habitat and confusion species, accompanied by an accurate distribution maps. The 266 plates are opposite the text, and feature age, sex and subspecific variation for all 1300 species recorded in the region. Authoritative yet relatively lightweight and portable in the field, this guide will enable birders to identify any species found in any of the countries covered. Birds of Western Africa is both an essential companion for birders in the field and an important work of reference.
