- Book Synopsis
- Paul Birtill's new collection Bad News sees the poet return to his favourite themes of death, relationships and mental illness with his usual brand of dark humour, deep-veined irony and more than one poem about Coronavirus.
- About The Author
- Paul Birtill was born in Walton, Liverpool in 1960 and is half Irish. He moved to London in his early twenties and apart from a brief period in Glasgow, has lived there ever since. He writes plays as well as verse, one of which was short listed for the Verity Bargate Award. Paul Birtill's first three publications were Terifying Ordeal, So Far So Bad, and Rats Getting Close, plus New Poems. Birtill's favourite themes are death, relationships and mental illness which he writes about with dark humour and deep-veined irony- definitely not for the faint-hearted. His Selection of Poems from Terrifying Ordeal, was first published by Hearing Eye in 1996 in the Torriano Meeting House Poetry Pamphlet series.
