About Brandon Sanderson

American author Brandon Sanderson was born in December 1975 in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a child Brandon enjoyed reading, but lost interest until a junior high teacher gave him Dragonsbane by Barbara Hambly. Hooked by epic fantasy, he discovered authors like Robert Jordan, Melanie Rawn, David Eddings, Anne McCaffrey, and Orson Scott Card. In 1994 he enrolled in university as a biochemistry major, but after spending some time as a missionary, realised that he didn't miss chemistry and became an English major on his return. In 2003, Brandon was contacted by Tor publishing, who wanted to buy one of his books. Elantris was published in May 2005. This paved the way for his Mistborn series (2006-2022) and the Stormlight Archives (2010-2024). Brandon lives in Utah with his wife Emily and their three sons.
