- Book Synopsis
- Celebrate the vision, resolve, and farsightedness of India's top horse breeders Pradeep Mehra and his daughter Ameeta, through rare photographs and an eloquent, heartwarming narrative. The book also dives into the technical profiles and detailed statistics of horses that made, and continue to make, Usha the leading stud farm in India today. The book is an intimate exploration of Pradeep Mehra's struggles as a 'backyard breeder' with no assets other than an eye for, and understanding of, horses.
- About The Author
- Founded in 1973 in New Delhi by Major Pradeep Mehra, a former international polo player, Usha Stud Farm is one of the leading stud farms in India. Over the years, it has achieved remarkable success, breeding 15 Indian Derby winners, 18 Indian Oaks winners, and 16 Indian 1000 Guineas winners - the highest numbers in the country. It is also distinguished by having seven Hall of Fame stallions. Following the tragic death of Major Mehra in 2001, his daughter Ameeta assumed the leadership of the farm and has continued its legacy of excellence.
