Frankie is a decade-spanning, immersive story filled with Graham Norton’s signature warmth, wit, and deeply engaging characters. Moving from small-town, conservative Ireland in the 1940s to the vibrant art scene of 1960s New York and then to London, this novel follows the journey of Frankie Powell—a woman who has spent her life as an observer rather than the leading lady in her own story.
Now older and living in a small London flat crammed with art, memories, and antiques, Frankie begins to share her life story with Damian, her young Irish carer. Through her reflections, we are taken into a world of New York artists on the brink of fame, aspiring writers, and eccentric personalities.
Though always on the sidelines, Frankie’s unique perspective allows her to see what others miss, to influence subtly, and to navigate life’s twists in unexpected ways.
In Frankie by Graham Norton, Frankie ultimately realises that life rarely unfolds as planned or as others might expect. This novel is an evocative exploration of art, memory, and the lives we lead—both imagined and real. - About The Author
