Eason Spelling Bee 2024 Week 3

The Eason Spelling Bee competition is a celebrated event that brings together the best spellers from across the country to showcase their impressive spelling skills. It's a rigorous competition that requires a great deal of preparation, focus, and determination to succeed. Week three was no different to previous with great competition from all participants and fantastic atmosphere across the Waterford and Wexford Spelling Bee finals.

Waterford

Finally on the Munster leg of the competition, the Spelling Bee Squad made their way to Fenor National School in Tramore to begin the Waterford County Finals. On Tuesday March 12th, spellers from nine schools entered, and only one emerged victorious. Lucy Lee-O’Callaghan from St John of God National School was the victor on this day, and will represent Waterford in the Munster Final.

Wexford

And then we made our way back to Leinster on March 13th for the Wexford County Final. It was in Gorey, Educate Together that our 28 students began their competition. Of those 28, the winner was Annie John from Scoil Mhuire in Wexford town. Annie was actually the Wexford County winner last year. She will go on to the Leinster final once again, and we hope this time she makes it to the All-Ireland Final!

The Waterford and Wexford finals were a fantastic opportunity for young students to showcase their spelling skills and compete against their peers. The winners of each competition demonstrated exceptional spelling abilities and should be proud of their achievements. We wish them all the best of luck as they continue to the province finals later this May.
