As we moved into our third week of the Eason Spelling Bee, our Spelling Bee Team went back on the road to visit another three schools within the Leinster region. Offaly, Westmeath and Longford were the destinations for the week. Our Spelling Bee Team were in high hopes and looking forward to meeting all our wonderful spellers. Durrow National School were the hosts of the Offaly Spelling Bee and our Spelling Bee Team were welcomed with open arms. A total of 16 spellers took part to be crowned our Offaly Spelling Bee Champion. Offaly provided us with a high level of spelling on the day and Adam Comerford was crowned our Offaly County Champion. Adam will now go on to represent Offaly in the Leinster Final in May.

Day two of week three and our Spelling Bee Team headed to Mullingar. Gaelscoil an Mhuilinn were our hosts and gave us an excellent welcoming. 24 pupils were put to the test to see who would be crowned our Westmeath County Champion. Karl Bourke from Milltownpass National School won the battle of the spellers and was crowned our Westmeath Spelling Bee Champion. Karl loves reading and is currently reading Alex Rider. Karl will now move onto the Leinster Final in May.

On Thursday 5th March, our Spelling Bee Team moved onto Stonepark National School, Co. Longford. Just like every school, we were given a warm greeting. With a total of 11 spellers taking part, the standard of spelling was extremely high. Michaela Hand from Stonepark National School stood tall and became our Longford County Champion. Michaela loves reading along with playing sports. Michaela is also our first female County Final Winner. Michaela will now represent Longford in the Leinster Final on in May.
