Henry Disney is an entomologist and poet. He did his National Service, including active service in Cyprus, from 1957 to 1959. During this time he was promoted to the NCO rank of Bombardier, then to 2nd Lieutenant. After his undergraduate studies at Cambridge, he became Deputy Warden Flatford Mill Field Centre in 1962, leaving the position to marry. During the 1960s, between assignments in dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) research units in Belize and Cameroon, he studied at the Department of Education, Bristol University. He became the Director of the Malham Tarn Field Centre and National Nature Reserve in 1971, and then in 1984 a Field Studies Council (FSC) Research Fellow at the Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge. On 'retirement' in 1998 he became Senior Research Associate at the same department. In addition to the volumes of poetry which form the basis of the first part of this book, Henry Disney is the author of Regaining Life's Winding Trail, published by Austin Macauley in 2017.
