When Vicky Phelan delivered an emotionally charged statement from the steps of the Four Courts in April 2018 - having refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement in the settlement of her action against the HSE - she unearthed the medical and political scandal of our times. It would emerge that, like Vicky, 220 other women who were diagnosed with cervical cancer were not informed that a clinical audit -carried out by the national screen programme CervicalCheck - had revised their earlier, negative smear tests. Their cancers could possibly have been preventable. Since then, Vicky has become women's voice for justice on the issue, and her system-changing activism has made her a household name. In her memoir Overcoming, Vicky shares her remarkable personal story, from a life-threatening accident in early adulthood through to motherhood, a battle with depression, her devastating later discovery that her cancer had returned in shocking circumstances - and the ensuing detective-like scrutiny of events that led the charge for her history-making legal action. An inspiring story of rare resilience and power, Overcoming is an account of how one woman can move mountains - even when she is fighting for her own life - and of finding happiness and strength in the toughest of times.

EVENT TERMS & CONDITIONS

  • Your ticket entitles you to entry to Eason Presents: Vicky Phelan in conversation along with one pre-signed copy of Vicky's new book "Overcoming".

  • The event will commence at 2.30pm in Clontarf Castle, Dublin on 15th September 2.30pm in Radisson Blu in Cork on 22nd September and 2.30pm in Castletroy Park Hotel, Limerick on 29th September.

  • Tickets are €20.00 and are available to purchase on www.easons.com. Those without tickets will be turned away.  

  • Max of four tickets per order.

  • Early arrivals will be turned away. Anyone arriving to the venue earlier than 1.30 pm will be asked to return at the time mentioned.

  • Latecomers may be refused admission.

  • Tickets shall not be purchased or obtained from or through any person, commercial agent, company or otherwise than directly by the applicant from Eason.

  • Any tickets advertised for sale will be void.

  • Recording and photography at this event is strictly prohibited.

  • Please note the event may be filmed, as an attendee you consent to footage of you being used for promotional purposes.

  • Anyone under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult. All attendees must have a ticket.

  • Management have the right to refuse entry or remove anyone who does not comply with these rules or who fails to follow reasonable instructions on the day.

  • We cannot replace any lost tickets.

  • Tickets are only valid for the date and location stated on the ticket.

  • Unfortunately, due to the unique element of this event we cannot reserve or have copies signed for those unable to attend on the day.

  • Seating at each of the venues is based on a first come first served basis.

  • Due to the nature of the event, the end time will be determined by the promoters on the day. We anticipate a maximum event duration of two hours.

  • Must produce your ticket to gain entry to the event.
