Children’s Book Recommendations at Eason O’Connell St. Dublin

Book Elves Sarah & Cillian Fitzgerald will be accompanied by two elf pals to prescribe and assist in picking out that special present of a book in Eason O’Connell St.  Dublin this Saturday December 15th at 12pm to 2pm in a mini book clinic . You will get a chance to discuss all things books with fellow bookworms and receive a free bookmark. They have been in communication with their colleagues in North Pole Library to see what is popular and trending this year and have some recommendations for kids and teens to read this Christmas.

Icelanders have a beautiful tradition of giving books to each other on Christmas Eve and then spending the night reading. This custom is so deeply ingrained in the culture that it is the reason for the Jolabokaflod, or “Christmas Book Flood”.

“This is a fabulous tradition that improves communication amongst friends and family and promoting literacy and could improve our overall nations literacy and all it would mean is an awareness campaign coming up to Christmas time to get the culture and spirit of the campaign going” Irish Children’s Book Ambassador Sarah Fitzgerald founder of www.sarahsbookproject.com who was an ambassador for the successful Irish Book Week recently launched by Booksellers Association Chair John Keane.

Book lovers will want to adopt this lovely holiday tradition, which melds literary and holiday pleasures into a single event.  Visit Eason this Christmas and gift a book to family and friends.
