Eason Spelling Bee 2023 Week 5

The Eason Spelling Bee competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to display their spelling skills, and this year's winners from Waterford, Wexford, and Wicklow did not disappoint.

Waterford

The first winner of this week is 12-year-old Sophie Kiely from Our Lady Mercy SPS from Waterford. Sophie has always been passionate about reading and her love for language shows in her ability to spell even the most challenging words. Sophie was thrilled to be crowned the winner of the spelling bee. Sophie is currently reading “The Land of Stories” by Chris Colfer.

Wexford

The second winner is 11-year-old Annie John from Scoil Mhuire Coolcots, who has been a big reader ever since she was little. Annie managed to beat off some extremely fierce competition and brought home the crown to her school whilst on home ground in her own school. Annie managed to come out on top after facing off twenty-seven other schools from around Wexford and will now be going forward to the Leinster finals later this May.

Wicklow

The third winner is Lucas Tyner from Wicklow Montessori Primary School. 12-year-old Lucas is a big reader and loves to play football. Lucas was delighted with his win on the day and is looking forward to taking part in the next stage of the competition.
All three winners are thrilled with their success in the competition and are grateful for the support of their families, teachers, and peers.

In conclusion, the spelling bee competition is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their spelling skills and to develop their language skills. The winners from Waterford, Wexford, and Wicklow are excellent examples of the dedication and passion that it takes to be successful in this competition. Congratulations to Sophie, Annie, and Lucas for their fantastic achievements!
