Eason Spelling Bee 2023 Week 4

 

 

Recently, week four of the county spelling bee finals took place in Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo, and Donegal for 5th and 6th class students in Ireland. These spelling bees were an opportunity for young students to showcase their spelling skills and compete against their peers. In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at each of the spelling bees and highlight some of the outstanding performances.

Roscommon

The Roscommon spelling bee final was held on March 28th, 2023, at the Abbey Hotel Roscommon. The competition was fierce, with 15 students competing for the title of Roscommon Spelling Bee Champion. After several rounds of intense spelling, 12-year-old Evan Mimnagh Reily from Cloonakilla NS emerged as the winner. Evan was ecstatic about his win. He loves reading and particularly likes books on history.

 

Leitrim

The Leitrim spelling bee final was held on March 29th, 2023, at The Landmark Hotel, County Leitrim. The event was open to all primary schools in the county. The competition was tough, with all students who took part eager for the title of Leitrim Spelling Bee Champion. The student who emerged as the winner on the day was 12-year-old Mia Mitchell From Scoil Mhuire Naofa. Mia is a big reader and is currently reading Tom Gates. Mia was thrilled about her win and said she had been studying hard for weeks leading up to the competition.

 

Sligo

The Sligo spelling bee final was held on March 30th, 2023, at Rathcormac NS. The competition was intense, with students competing for the title of Sligo Spelling Bee Champion. After a very exciting head-to-head, 12-year-old Saoirse Gannon from Rathlee NS came out as the winner, correctly spelling the word "Tromometer" Saoirse was overjoyed about her win and said she was looking forward to the province finals on later this year.

 

Donegal

The Donegal spelling bee final was held on March 31st, 2023, at the Villa Rose Hotel, County Donegal. The competition was fierce, with 10 students competing for the title of Donegal Spelling Bee Champion. After many rounds of exciting spelling, 12-year-old Anna Kearns from Scoil Phádraig, Drumkeen surfaced as the winner. Anna was thrilled about her win and said she had been practicing very hard leading up to the competition. Anna is currently reading Pride and Prejudice, which no doubt helped her in her spelling abilities during the competition.

 

In conclusion, the county spelling bee finals in Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo, and Donegal were a fantastic opportunity for young students to showcase their spelling skills and compete against their peers. The winners of each competition demonstrated exceptional spelling abilities and should be proud of their achievements. We wish them all the best of luck as they continue to the province finals later this May.
