Week two of the 2023 Eason Spelling Bee saw our Spelling Bee Team travel to Laois, Westmeath and Longford to crown our next three lucky Spelling Bee County champions. Check out all the details of week two below and find out which of our fantastic spellers were crowned Spelling Bee County champions.
On Tuesday 14th March, our Spelling Bee team made the journey to Holy Family Senior School in Laois, where everyone was welcomed with open arms. Like all the finals to date, the spelling standard was extremely high with 7 spellers taking part. The winner was 12-year-old Devin McEvoy from St. Patrick's N.S. Devins favourite author is David Walliams. Devin will now be going forward to the Leinster province finals which will be taking place later this year.

On Wednesday 15th March our Spelling Bee team were warmly greeted by Gaelscoil an Choillínto crown our Westmeath County Champion. 15 spellers took part in what was a truly exciting and tense competition. The winner of the competition was 12 year old Zuzanna Woloszyn from St. Etchens. Zuzanna plays volleyball and is currently reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. She will now go on to represent Westmeath in the Leinster finals later this year

Stone park N.S, were very kind to host the Longford County Final once again in their school. A total of 8 spellers went head-to-head to be crowned the Longford County Champion. Rebecca Barry from Colehill NS. Rebecca is big reader and loves playing Gaelic football. She is currently reading one of her favourite authors Catherin Rundle. Rebecca will now be going forward to represent Longford in the Leinster finals later this year in May.
