George Raymond Richard Martin (born in New Jersey, USA, September 20, 1948) also known as GRRM, is an American novelist in the fantasy, horror, and science fiction genres. He is also a screenwriter, and television producer. However, he is best known for his series of epic fantasy novels. 'A Song of Ice and Fire', was adapted into what is more widely known as the HBO series Game of Thrones (2011–2019). Also, his science fiction novel, 'Nightflyers' (2018), has been adapted into a TV series by Netflix.

In 2011, George was included on the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world.

George R.R. Martin's latest book 'Fire and Blood' is set 300 years before 'A Song of Ice and Fire'.
