THE ADDICTIVE No.1 BESTSELLER THAT EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT. Who are you? What have we done to each other? These are the questions Nick Dunne finds himself asking on the morning of his fifth wedding anniversary, when his wife Amy suddenly disappears. The police suspect Nick. Amy's friends reveal that she was afraid of him, that she kept secrets from him. He swears it isn't true. A police examination of his computer shows strange searches. He says they weren't made by him. And then there are the persistent calls on his mobile phone. So what really did happen to Nick's beautiful wife?

Marriage can be a real killer. One of the most critically acclaimed suspense writers of our time, New York Times bestseller Gillian Flynn, takes that statement to its darkest place in this unputdownable masterpiece about a marriage gone terribly, terribly wrong.

As The Washington Post proclaimed, her work "draws you in and keeps you reading with the force of a pure but nasty addiction". Gone Girl's toxic mix of sharp-edged wit with deliciously chilling prose creates a nerve-fraying thriller that confounds you at every turn.

Employing her trademark razor-sharp writing and assured psychological insight, Gillian Flynn delivers a fast-paced, devilishly dark, and ingeniously plotted thriller that confirms her status as one of the hottest writers around.

It starts out well, building up the 2 main characters - Nick and Amy. I was drawn in from the start and was curious as to what was going to happen. It's a bit different to the standard crime thriller type book. Its written from the perspective of both characters, in every second chapter. So you get inside each of their heads. However, I did start to loose interest half way through - thought it was a bit drawn out and just wanted to get to the end. But then in the last quarter of the book it picks up again and there are a few more twists to keep you interested. Overall I liked it and would recommend it.

    What the critics say

Flynn, an extraordinarily good writer, plays her readers with the finesse and delicacy of an expert angler. She wields her unreliable narrators to stunning effect, baffling, disturbing and delighting in turn, practically guaranteeing an immediate reread once her terrifying, wonderful conclusion is reached... an early contender for thriller of the year, and an absolute must-read.
